PROJECT 1
week 4 (26.1.2021)
we were asked to observe a video from Grandma pasta and come out with an infographics poster. I had chose Cesaria among these grandma because I think she is very cute and the plate to dry the pasta catches my eyes.
fig 2.2 video of Cesaria making lorighittas (26.1.2021)
After that, I try to observe the recipe of Cesaria's lorighittas and to see how could I visualize it in an A3 size paper.
fig 2.3 video breakdown in mindmap form (26.1.2021)
This is the breakdown of the video which it has include the steps, ingredient of the lorighittas. I also noted down some special parts of the video in this mindmap.
These are the reference that I found, and I came out with a color palette that I want to follow in my poster.
I took some screenshot from the video to try to get the vibe of the video. After I found the basket that dry the lorighittas in Instagram.

These are the sketches that I did, its very rough but its clear how I want to present it in layout wise.

I had chose sketch 2 as the final layout but I also changed a little to fit the information in the A3 poster.

For most of the ingredients, I added some textures on it because I don't want them to look so plain.

This is the first ingredients illustration, but it is not so detailed. Ms Anis suggested me to add on some details on it.

fig 2.12 illustration of Cesaria and Arissa (5.2.2021)
For illustration of the grandmas, I try to make it cuter so I builded them with basic shapes and make them more simple and cute.

fig 2.15 draft 3 (5.2.2021)
This is the drafts of my poster, I tried to make the color brighter to fit the vibe of the video. As you can see, I added some textures to the assets and the background.
For the dough, I made a shape that it is getting smaller to show that the lorighittas need to be thin and there were 2 lops to show that it needs 2 lops to make the lorighittas. As you can see, the progress is started from the dough and the drying progress, then boiling the lorighittas and cooking chicken ragout by Arissa by the line. I also differentiate the parts of Cesaria and Arissa by the colors of the ingredients name and lines.
week 7 (19.2.2021)

fig 2.16 final outcome (19.2.2021)
This is the final outcome of my poster, I had made the ingredients smaller to emphasis the steps. I had also put the labels to make the steps more clearer. I also put the labels for ingredients to differentiate different ingredients for different parts.
Project 2
week 6 & week 7
We needed to make a motion graphic based on the poster that we design.
fig 2.17 miro board planning (21.2.2021)
At the beginning, I planned out the scenes, the assets that need to be in a scene and the transition style in Miro board, so that I know roughly how the outcome will look like.
I wanted to make the text look like this and because my art style are more hand writing feel, so I think it would be nice if I could apply this to my animation, after that, I try to do some research about how to do this. I watched some tutorials on YouTube as well.

This is the draft animation with background music but without the sound effects.
fig 2.24 final outcome (21.2.2021)
This is the final outcome for my animated recipe infographic.
FEEDBACK
Project 1
Ms. Anis said that it looks good but it is better if I could arrange the ingredients like it is on the table. I should also draw more details of my ingredient.
Feedback from friends: Jing Wen said that my steps are not clear and she can't understand what I wanted to show in the poster. The color label under the grandmas took her long time to know what it is. The sequence of my poster is not clear. She suggested me to put numbers on my steps and I think it's a great idea.
Project 2
Ms. Anis said that my video are well done and she said that it is pretty much excellent tier work. She also said that I deserve a slides of fat chocolate cake hahaha😄
Feedback from friends: Jing Wen said that I could make the lorighittas rotate with the basket and Tze Earn said that I could make the boiling part more boiling feel by adding the smoke or fire.
REFLECTION
Project 1
Experience: I am happy while doing this project and I think the grandmothers in the YouTube channels are very cute. I was a little bit worried at first because I think that it is hard to put all the information in a poster. In the first week of this exercise, we were asked to breakdown the video and I do all the research and put it all in a Miro board to see the information clearer. I had watch the video a lot of times to make sure I didn't miss any information in the video. In the video, there were also a lot of information missing such as how long would the chicken ragout boil, how long should the lorighittas be dried. The parts of the chicken ragout are too short, that's why I the information about the chicken ragout is less.
Observation: In the middle of my project, I found out that my laptop screen are overexposed, so I need to find way to adjust my screen. That is also why my poster look so dull in the beginning.
Finding: I found out that my illustrator skills improved a lot during the project as I slowly explore the functions in illustrator and found some different techniques online.
Project 2
Experience: At first I was scare that it will not turn out well as I scare that I couldn't express the steps well, but I am happy with the final outcome. I had learned a lot of animating skills through Mr. Shamsul practical class and also some YouTube videos online. I am more familiar with after effect after this project.
Observation: The difficulty of this project is that my after effect is always not responding that sometimes when I was half of my way doing the project but it just went off itself, so I need to redo some of the animating again, this makes me learn that I need to save my project during the process.
Finding: I found out that actually we could drag the timeline of the assets in after effect to make it not appear on certain time, to make the working space more organized.
